I currently have a 512k/128k connection and I can play online first-person shooters such as Counter-Strike and Battlefield 2 fine with a decent ping, but when the other computer on my network is streaming video/viewing websites/downloading files I get insane lag in game and in BF2 I end up getting kicked from servers for having a 300+ ping. What effect would upgrading to a 1500k/256k connection have on this? Would it stop it completely, partially or not at all?
Answer:
It will decrease your lag a little bit. But any file downloading or video streaming will kill your connection. It isn't worth the money. Im running fiber optics right now and I still get lag when people are downloading on my connection.
