The easiest, least expensive way to get affordable health care is to switch to a full time job that offers benefits.
Blue Cross does offer something called Family Health Plus. You have to be working for an employer who doesn't offer coverage, and fall within the income guidelines. Blue Cross coverage purchased outside of a group costs about $800 a month.
Blue Cross. For a single person it shouldn't cost more than around $100.00/month.
Good luck. This country doesn't believe in affordable health care. You'd be better off just paying as you go. If a catastrophe strikes, well, file bankruptcy.
Try the Blue Cross "Blue Options" plan. You can basically create your own plan. Mine's only $88 per month and it covers just about everything.
I have the same problem. I work for a company that doesn't provide health care and I make peanuts. Fortunately I go to a clinic that is affiliated with a hospital and get free meds and exams. I don't know what state you live in but try calling the local Board of Health office and they should be able to direct you to a decent clinic. Good luck.
